Aucklanders rejoice! Restaurant Month is back this August. Where every day is a celebration of the city centre’s culinary scene.

Restaurant Month provides foodies the opportunity to indulge in special menus priced at $30, $45 or $55+ per person, and enjoy the unexpected experiences on offer throughout the month. The stacked programme of events includes Flavours of the City, The Chef’s Table Series, as well as a mad hatters tea party, a movie night, a bonfire and more.

“We can’t wait for people to experience what’s on offer this August. Restaurant Month is well-established as a city centre “must do” and this year is no exception. There’s a fabulous mix of events and menus on offer throughout the heart of the city – the programme’s so packed, multiple visits will be required,” says Viv Beck, Heart of the City Chief Executive

Some of the stand-out events are:

FLAVOURS OF THE CITY showcases the melting pot of cuisines over multiple events. For those who like to try a bit of everything, there’s some great opportunities to explore numerous eateries across the city centre in one night, including:

  • Restaurant Roulette: A night in Asia, where you won’t know which of the Asian eateries you’re going to until a few days beforehand.
  • Around the World at Commercial Bay with Ahi, Advieh, and Origine, featuring a progressive dinner of Turkish spices, French elegance, and the best of New Zealand.
  • Lincoln’s Table Walking Food Tours ‘Iconic Eights’. Featuring eight of the city centre’s Iconic Eats 2024 finalists, as voted by Aucklanders, it’s a great way to try everything from kingi’s Kina Toast to Sneaky Snacky’s dark chocolate and Earl Grey donut.

There’s also the chance to learn how to make classic Mexican fare including tortillas, salsas and soups at the Taco Teca Masa Class, and LUMIÈRE CULINAIRE for the ultimate cosy midwinter evening at Le Chef, featuring fondue, wine and cheese.

CHEFS TABLE SERIES: lets diners connect with chefs from some of our city’s top restaurants through an exclusive evening of food and conversation. A taste of what’s on offer for this annual favourite includes:

  • Metita Taste of Pacifica with Michael Meredith, Touvai Polonati and Patrick Ikinofo, where traditional Pacifica dishes from Samoa, Tonga and Niue will be prepared with a modern twist.
  • So/Hotel Auckland Malaysian Cuisine with Roy Giam, blends authentic flavours with fresh cooking techniques.
  • Culprit Alumni 3.0 The O.G’s with Des Harris, Shepherd Elliott, Liam King and Roberta-Jean Young and Kyle Street each of these local legends have worked at Culprit, Cuisine Magazine Metropolitan Restaurant of the Year 2023. They’re reuniting for an evening of nostalgic, playful fare.
