Cancelled conferences donate food to those in need

Food from two cancelled business conferences in Auckland and Nelson last week has been given to those in need.

The hotel industry’s Maximum Occupancy annual conference was set to host over 250 delegates on 18 and 19 August at Aotea Centre, Auckland, catered by Urban Gourmet.  When the Level 4 lockdown forced them to cancel the event, the food that would have gone to waste was donated to the Auckland City Mission who have an ongoing relationship with Urban Gourmet.

The Seafood New Zealand conference, scheduled for 19 and 20 August, organised by event management company Lime and Soda, was also forced to cancel. Their food was supplied by New Zealand seafood companies attending the conference and the venue, Rutherford Hotel Nelson. It was donated to the Nelson Environment Centre Kai Rescue programme.
