Popular Lower Hutt bakery, Little Bread Loaf, is set to impress their community of ‘Loaves’ this month as they prepare to open a second site in Miramar on the 14th of November.
Proudly Māori-owned, the bakery has grown exponentially from its origins as a self-proclaimed “hole-in-the-wall”, to now being a regular feature at weekend markets and festivals across the Wellington region.
Being a Lyall Bay local herself, Owner, Lynda McGregor (Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Kuia, Te Atiawa, Te Whānau a Apanui, me Te Atihaunui a Pāpārangi) often made special deliveries on her commute home from the bakery to customers across the Eastern Suburbs and recently partnered Miramar micro-brewery, Double Vision Brewing for ‘Pretzel Fridays’ earlier in the year.
“Every day we share on social media what we have baked that morning, and we often had Loaves on this side of town asking if we delivered. I thought to myself, well, I’m heading home this way, so why not drop off some goodies and make someone’s day.”
Known throughout Wellington for their contemporary take on traditional bakery favourites, Little Bread Loaf Miramar will be stocking a variety of ready-to-eat products including topped bagels, rēwena baps, and giant flavoured pretzels for Miramar locals to enjoy.
“Our flavoured pretzels are definitely a hit with our Loaves, and we agree, there’s nothing more comforting than a cheesy soft pretzel dipped in our cheese fondue!”
Alongside their range of baked delights, Little Bread Loaf has partnered with Dirty Donuts; another local Wellington bakery with a cult following of its own.
“As a small-business owner, I want to build an eco-system of support with other small businesses like mine,” says McGregor.
“We have worked alongside Dirty Donuts at the markets for a while now and can attest their donuts are delicious, so we are super excited to also be bringing them with us to Miramar and become their first stockist in the Eastern suburbs.”
Since announcing the expansion to Miramar, Little Bread Loaf has received an unprecedented response from their Loaf community, with almost 400 locals RSVPing to the grand opening event.
“Although we are a tiny bakery, our community of Loaves Is far reaching, we even have customers who travel halfway across the motu to visit us – it’s really heart-warming to see the community support.”
Little Bread Loaf Miramar will open from 8am on 14 November at 7/24 Southampton Road, Miramar. To celebrate, the team is extending an invitation to the Miramar community.
