Invivo’s latest colab with New York icon

Actor, producer, fashionista and partner-in-wine Sarah Jessica Parker is working with New Zealand’s Invivo to create her forth unique wine blend.

Invivo co-founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron are no strangers to working with famous faces, having previously blended wine and created new labels with British TV star Graham Norton and New Zealand’s Paul Henry. Announcing the collaboration with the New York icon Sarah Jessica Parker in February 2019, the Invite team stressed the relationship was more than a celebrity endorsement. Parker was to be involved in every aspect of the new wine, from the naming and label design to the winemaking itself and choosing the final blend. SJP is also a shareholder in the company, making this a long-term venture for both parties.

Now, after two years of forced separation, the team flew to the Big Apple to spend time with Parker who was tasting and blending her fourth sauvignon blanc vintage, Invivo X, SJP. “I feel fortunate that I was able to meet my Invivo X, SJP partners Tim and Rob in person after two years apart and together blend our fourth vintage of sauvignon blanc,” says Parker. “We were looking to build on the quality of our previous vintages and are thrilled with the result.”

Cameron, Invivo’s winemaker, selected ten samples of Sauvignon Blanc following the recent harvest in New Zealand and brought them to Sarah Jessica in New York at the Baccarat, for a two-hour tasting and blending process. Parker says, “Each of the base wines had great personalities so combining them to create something special took some work at the blending table. Our final 2022 sauvignon blanc blend is tropical and has wonderful fresh citrus aromatics with a full and round mouthfeel and long finish.”

X marks the drop. As with previous blends, the new wine features Sarah’s signature ‘X’ she uses on social media and emails. All images Nigel Barker.

“It’s so important that Sarah Jessica is involved in blending of the new vintage of Invivo X, SJP each year as she represents the tastes of our customers and what they are looking for in their glass”, says Cameron. Sarah Jessica has developed a beautiful style of Sauvignon Blanc that is soft with a subtle oak influence with flavors of ripe citrus, tropical fruits and just a hint of something savoury. We’re really proud of the quality of the wine we’re producing together”.

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is currently the hottest wine of choice for Americans. More than one thousand glasses of New Zealand wine are enjoyed in the USA every single minute and three and a half glasses of Invivo wine are enjoyed worldwide every second. According to Statistics New Zealand figures, Americans have imbibed more than 1 billion glasses of New Zealand wine over the past two years, and New Zealand Winegrowers confirm that 95% of this was Sauvignon Blanc.

Invivo X, SJP was founded in 2019 by SJP and Te Kauwhata based Invivo and was named in the World’s Top 100 wines in its first vintage by Wine Spectator. The collection’s Sauvignon Blanc and French Rosé have been awarded more than 50 accolades since launch, with Wine Spectator awarding the Sauvignon Blanc three 90+ point scores for its first three vintages.
