In the Bay of Plenty, where lush green hills meet the shimmering blue of the Pacific Ocean, a summer tradition like no other is about to unfold. As the season of long days and warm nights glimmers near and when Kiwis yearn for something refreshing and adventurous to quench their thirst. And what better elixir could there be than gin? There’s one certain way to know that summer is on the way – when Gindulgence festival tickets go on sale.

On Saturday 4th of November, gin lovers from all corners of the Bay and further afield will flock to Gindulgence in Tauranga to sample over 80 gins on show from 24 unique distilleries, a juniper-laced paradise for those eager to explore new flavours and botanical combinations.

And those who can’t make it to Gindulgence in the Bay of Plenty can go further afield as Gindulgence stops in Nelson, Wellington and Christchurch on its annual tour.

If you’ve not yet experienced the joy of a gin festival in the sunshine – let me paint a picture. This time last year, the gates opened, and the gin enthusiasts flocked in. They were met by rows of colourful stalls, each one displaying an exquisite collection of gins. As the tasting glasses clinked together, the cheers of delight echoed through the festival grounds. At one stall, a group of friends gathered around, eager to quench their curiosity. “What’s this one like?” asked Sarah, her eyes twinkling with anticipation. The friendly gin connoisseur behind the counter regaled them with stories of the juniper berries and hand-picked New Zealand botanicals that brought their gin to life. With every sip, they discovered new tastes and aromas, their taste buds embarking on an adventurous journey.

In another corner, a couple from the city marvelled at the artistry behind each bottle. “This gin has a hint of kawakawa,” whispered Mark to his partner, admiring its unique concoction. “It’s like a Kiwi summer captured in a glass!” They eagerly purchased a bottle, knowing it would be the highlight of their summer evenings. As the day progressed, the festival became a lively tapestry of laughter and camaraderie. Strangers bonded over their shared love for gin. Conversations flowed as readily as the drinks, and friendships blossomed under the summer sun.

As the festival drew to a close, the attendees dispersed, carrying with them their newfound love for gin. They left with filled glasses, filled hearts, and filled memories of a day spent in gin paradise. Gindulgence sparks renewed love for the spirit of summer, a spirit of exploration and celebration.

Tickets are on sale at Gindulgence.
